£9million to deliver support for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced an additional £9 million investment to support survivors of domestic abuse and violence against women and girls. This includes £6 million for grassroots organisations delivering vital frontline services such as counselling, legal advice and specialist support for women from minoritised communities. These organisations have already supported tens of thousands of women and families across London, and this new funding will ensure even more survivors can access the help they need to recover and rebuild their lives.

A further £3 million will focus on helping survivors achieve financial independence—providing skills, training and employment support to break the cycle of abuse and reduce the risk of re-victimisation. This builds on more than £277 million the Mayor has invested to tackle violence against women and girls since taking office. Marking International Women’s Day, the Mayor also used city-wide platforms to send a clear message: we must all play our part in challenging misogyny and ensuring women are respected, supported and believed.
